My issue was suspecting a raccoon was in our attic. Sherman was excellent. He was willing to come at my requested time to look in our attic. On the day of the appointment, it was snowing and the roads were slick. However, despite the bad weather, he still arrived at the scheduled time. He wore booties so as not to mess up the floors each time he went in the house. He took the time to check the attic to see if any signs of a raccoon or other animal was present. No holes in the venting or roof were seen but while here, he also checked our mouse traps for evidence of any mice. He provided very good service and since nothing was found, he didn’t charge us for his work. I would definitely recommend him for your animal control needs”

Mississauga, like many other areas around the GTA, is home to all sorts of wildlife, so it is important to note some of the precautions that should be taken in order to keep your property, home, family safe and wildlife damage free.

If you are in Mississauga, and you need wildlife nuisance solutions, give us a call at 1.800.981.0330 today!

Once, one of our Mississauga customers had a squirrel trapped in the bottom of her furnace. It probably wouldn’t have hurt her any—at least, but it would have died if she did not call us.

Another Mississauga customer just found a raccoon lazing away in an indoor balcony, with a floor vent right beside it just as bold as you please. This was a tricky situation, so we offered our customer multiple solutions to get rid of that little fellow.
Of course raccoons aren’t the only nuisance animals you might encounter in your home or business.

Raccoon Removal Mississauga, ON

Often, raccoons, squirrels, skunks, and other creatures come to a home because they’re looking for food first. Then, they notice an opportunity for cozy den space, and take advantage of it.

Some people try to make friends with these creatures. One lady started feeding the raccoons cat food. She graduated to chicken and other meats, and tried to get the raccoons to eat out of her hand. She was rushed to the hospital to take plenty of shots. Raccoons can carry rabies, and the disease can show up in their saliva several days before they show symptoms. See this Peel County PSA about rabies to learn more.

Raccoon’s, squirrels, and groundhogs may be adorable, but they’re still wild animals—not pets.

More about Mississauga

Mississauga is the southernmost of three cities in the Peel region of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Few people would start thinking about wild animal infestations after staring up at its gleaming, modern, and thoroughly urban skyline. However, as this land use map shows, there’s actually quite a bit of underdeveloped land in Mississauga that can shelter all manner of wildlife. As scavengers, raccoons are quite adaptable to urban living anyway, and birds and squirrels adapted to the urban landscape long ago, so that they’re just as common a sight in any city as cars and office buildings.

Maybe that’s why so many people in Mississauga get wildlife control mixed up with animal control.

Animal control deals primarily with domestic pets which are causing problems. They promote and enforce responsible pet ownership to protect animals and humans alike. They aren’t just dog-catchers: they help rescue and care for lost pets, provide adoption services, and license pets as well. You can learn more about Mississauga Animal Control here.

Mississauga Animal Control won’t come out and help you if you have a bunch of birds in your attic. However, they have provided a couple of resources which deal with wild animals that we think are good, and want to share with you.

The first resource deals with coyotes in the city. We don’t handle coyotes ourselves yet, but they have become more of a problem in the GTA within recent years. The second resource is how to manage conflicts with coyotes.

Wildlife control is quite a bit different than animal control, and that’s where we come in. We study habits of certain nuisance wild animals and deal specifically with the humane and safe removal of squirrels, raccoons, skunks, birds, bats, and groundhogs that have found their way into your home, where they can create a health hazard and where they can prove to be quite destructive. So if you do have a bird (or anything else) in your attic, call us at 647-994-9453 or e-mail us at info@soswildlife.ca today. We’ll be happy to help!
